You're going to know how much passion your attorney has for his or her work based on some of the following:
- Are they contacting you consistently between court appearances?
- Or are they contacting you the day or night before court appearances in a rush?
- Have they set up a secure text exchange with you for regular updates?
- Are you in direct contact with the attorney or just their legal assistant?
- Are they regularly seeking information from you about your case?
- Do you get the feeling they are doing the bare minimum to "earn their fee"?
- Are you giving them ideas they fail to follow up on?
- When you ask for case updates, are they referring to old tasks and not new ones?
- Does it appear they are avoiding filing motions that may assist your case?
- Are they regularly updating you on significant case developments or not?
- Or are they using court appearances as their usual way of updating you?
- Is there investigation that they said they would do but it's not getting done?
These are just a few, and there are many more. Remember, even at the elite level in any profession, what separates the best from the rest is their mindset. You see it in their eyes, and you hear it in their voice. Is it just a job, or is it a passion?
